Kauri Timber Building

Kauri Timber Building

This new structure partners the reworking of a structure retained from the early days of Auckland's settlement.

The Kauri Timber Building was constructed in 1881 to serve the thriving logging industry of Auckland. The new structure is seven commercial levels, sheathed in vertically fluted aluminium screens. The screened volume provides a continuous built edge and vertical proportion to the heavily trafficked Fanshawe St, gateway to the central city.

The spaces within enjoy the light and aspect of the norhern orientation from behind the protection offered by the fluted sheath.
