Rose Bay
The house is sheathed in a translucent stone screen, set amongst established trees at the eastern end of Rose Bay. The plan of the house is U-shaped, opening to an eastern courtyard and presenting a broad terrace out to the view and harbour. The courtyard allows morning sun into the plan, set-back from the street, and views across and through spaces on either side.
Slabs of onyx are laid into a blackened stainless-steel frame, express vertically either suspended from the roof edge, or supported on the terrace. The stone provides privacy and volume to the house while its translucency allows dappled light into the interior. The interior surfaces are plastered, set on stone and timber floors, with darkened brass window frames and structure.
