Tribeca Loft

Tribeca Loft is a response to the challenges of residing in Manhattan. The 3.6m high space is defined by a reinforced concrete frame and large multi-paned windows offering views of the skyline on three sides. An insertion of steel framed glazed volumes with raised timber floors provides elevated sleeping platforms within the loft space.

Areas of the space may be separated or connected to each other as desired. Collaborating with artisans of both New Zealand and New York has enabled the creation of blown glass pendant lights, treated steel and bespoke stone installations.

Project Details: Floor area is 550m2. Construction completed end 2009. Fearon Hay’s project team was led by Maggie Carroll. Tim Hay and Jeff Fearon are the design architects. Interiors are a collaboration with Penny Hay with custom blown glass artworks in collaboration with Katie Brown. Photography is by Richard Powers.

Recognition: Winner of a New Zealand International Architecture Award (NZIA Awards 2011) Winner of a Designer’s Institute Gold Award (Best Awards 2011)
